According to the World Economic Forum’s September 2025 Chief Economists’ Outlook, the global economy is transforming unevenly. The Chief Economists identified political instability and societal fragmentation as the most frequent constraints on growth. There is a bigger threat in advanced economies than in developing ones (68% versus 48%), with significant implications for productivity, investment, financing costs, and policy execution.

The World Economic Forum’s Future of Growth Initiative unites Chief Economists from public and private sectors to exchange insights, track economic trends, and shape policy amid global uncertainty. Learn more
