|  **Good afternoon.**  On January 30, the U.S. Department of Justice published more than 3 million pages of files related to its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died while awaiting trial on federal charges in 2019.  _The Wire China_ has reviewed thousands of those documents to piece together Jeffrey Epstein’s interest in doing business in China.  Bridging Epstein and the Chinese business world were Peter Mandelson, the veteran UK Labour Party politician, and David Stern, a businessman with close ties to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew. The documents reveal Mandelson’s aspirations to work with Chinese clients after he exited government in 2011. And they show Epstein and Stern, both prolific networkers, discussing a raft of possible deals involving some of China’s wealthiest and most powerful people, including the so-called princeling offspring of senior Chinese leaders.
